1917 * Centennial of St. Anthony of Padua Church * 2017
St. Anthony's has recently concluded a year-long celebration of the parish's inception in 1917. In November 2016, an inaugural Mass was celebrated with past clergy, religious and staff joining us.
June marked the feast of St. Anthony. To celebrate our patron, Bishop Folda celebrated Mass with us, followed by an all-school reunion, parish picnic and dance.
Our centennial celebration closed on November 18th, 2017 with a celebration Mass and dinner followed the next morning by a Mass of consecration of the new altar. For more photos, visit our Facebook page: facebook.com/stanthonyfargo
We are truly grateful to the many donors who made this transformation and celebration a success. Some contributed time, others: talent, and still others shared their gift of treasure to generously support these efforts.
Centennial Campaign Tops $750,000!
On May 6 – 7, 2017, St. Anthony's parish launched the Centennial Campaign with two goals: (1) Remodel the sanctuary, paint the entire church interior, and clean and seal the wooden ceiling and beams. (2) initiate an endowment for the long-term financial future of the parish.
Goal. The Centennial Campaign hit its goal of $750,000, with $450,000 earmarked for physical improvements, and $300,000 set aside for the endowment.
As of October 16 we received $711,130.25 in gifts and pledges from 285 families. In addition, we qualified for a Catholic Development Foundation matching grant of $45,000, bringing us to a GRAND TOTAL of $759,630!
Appreciation. "As I send out thank you letters every week, I am touched by the fact that most people 'do what they can'. The generosity of St. Anthony parishioners is a constant source of encouragement, because it speaks to their love for the Church." -Fr. Courtright
What will be your family legacy? Prompted by the Centennial Campaign, a few families have taken the opportunity to initiate a named family endowment to benefit St. Anthony. The endowment is a long-term effort that, although initiated during the centennial celebration, will continue to be a way for parishioners to share their gifts in the years to come. We’d love to explain more. Contact Deidra Lies in the parish office firstname.lastname@example.org or 701-237-6063. She will put you in touch with volunteers who can explain the benefits and process.
Special Tax Credits for Endowment Gifts. The state of North Dakota has generous tax credit incentives for planned gifts and gifts specifically restricted to endowments. Check with your tax advisor for details on how to make a qualifying gift. The Catholic Development Foundation web site provides an overview of the North Dakota Endowment Tax Credit at www.cdfnd.org/ndtaxcredit.
Church Restoration Phase Nearly Complete. The remodeling and painting crew began their work in the church on July 10, and all major needs were finished in time for our Centennial Closing celebration the weekend of November 18 – 19. The ceiling was cleaned and sealed, the entire church painted, and the sanctuary given a new look. There is also a new crucifix, sanctuary furnishings, and carpet.
